Izabela Kamińska is a journalist, wine specialist, wine-competition judge and educator (she holds the WSET Diploma – the highest level of the international Wine and Spirit Education Trust). She is the co-author of the “Ale wino” programme on YouTube and the author of the “Dzikie drożdże” (“Wild Yeasts”) podcast. For six years she was associated with the wine portal Winicjatywa, and she has also written for the magazines Smak and Kukbuk.
“Wild Yeasts” is a collection of essays about wine in the context of culture, history, politics and economics. It brings together experiences and stories gathered during numerous journeys, heard in long conversations with winemakers, and found while preparing for tastings and courses that Iza teaches.
As the author writes: “Wine is more than just a drink made from grapes. And that’s why the stories told in ‘Wild Yeasts’ are not only about wine, but about our civilisation, human discoveries, politics and wars, art, culture, pop culture, as well as nature and our relationship with it.
